set easiest assignment he's faced for some time and that, coupled with his best effort of the season, was enough to see him regain the winning thread; pressed leader, pushed along over 2f out, kept on well, edged ahead dying strides; showed a good attitude but the percentage call is that he'll struggle to follow up.

is a bit unlucky not to have added to his tally this season, this the third time he's gone down by a narrow margin; led, ridden 2f out, headed dying strides; should remain competitive.

seems well suited by small-field environments and quickly bounced back from Ascot flop, running one of his better races despite not being seen to full effect; waited with, travelled better than most, headway 2f out, every chance when hit on nose by rival jockey's whip over 1f out, seemed intimidated from that point and no extra final 100 yds.
