The race impacted most significantly by the change of going, in of absentees at least, 6 withdrawn from the original 21, including Method, Supremacy and Sacred, the geldings Rohaan and Creative Force also notable absentees in of the best 3-y-o sprinters around, the form of the former represented by Dragon Symbol who was first past the post but demoted after causing sustained interference, the first 2 drawing well clear in the final 1f, the conditions perhaps a factor in that, a relatively cautious view taken of the form, though the race overall has been a fine proving ground for young sprinters and there's little doubt the first 2 at least will play their part in good races against their elders; the field raced as a group to the stands side of the centre.

DRAGON SYMBOL a strapping sort, ran a fine race up in grade and will win a good sprint at some point, though after ing the post narrowly in front after causing sustained interference, he was rightly relegated to second by the stewards; close up, went with zest, shaken up 2f out, led over 1f out, hung right, kept on well, just held on, demoted.

CAMLE (IRE) gained a second win at the Royal meeting, following last year's Queen Mary, this one courtesy of the stewards, though it was still a cracking performance on her first start of the year, an imposing sort, even in this field, and clearly a major contender for top sprint prizes should she remain in Europe, as she did last year, when she added the Morny to her tally; led, tanked along, headed over 1f out, ridden, kept on well, carried right final 1f, just failed, awarded race; sure to go well again.

MEASURE OF MAGIC (IRE) up in grade, emerged third, though well held by the first 2, coping with conditions, even if, strictly speaking, she wasn't at her best; patiently ridden, effort 2f out, chased leaders 1f out, kept on, made no impression.

DANDALLA (IRE) a year on from her win in the Albany, turned in her best effort of the year, though still some way off her level at 2 yrs; held up, effort 2f out, not quicken, kept on well final 1f, nearest at the finish.

LAWS OF INDICES (IRE) was below form in first-time tongue strap, though it's best to give him a for this effort, making his move long after the race had begun to develop; slowly into stride, in rear, travelled well, effort 2f out, kept on, had a hopeless task from position.

MOONEISTA (IRE) progressive until now, wasn't in the same form as last time, though that form took plenty of knocks in this race, that said, the way she travelled suggesting a better performance than she finally delivered; tracked pace, travelled well, ridden 2f out, every chance over 1f out, not quicken.

THE LIR JET (IRE) in first-time visor and tongue strap, had won the Norfolk Stakes at the meeting last year, but underperformed this time, the application of heagear looking to have a negative impact; slowly into stride, in rear, labouring before halfway, late headway; he's got plenty to prove after his last 2 runs.

SUESA (IRE) strong in the betting, up in grade, looked to have leading form claims, but failed to meet expectations, losing her unbeaten record, promising more than she delivered; prominent, travelled well, shaken up 2f out, no extra entering final 1f.

ISABELLA GILES (IRE) was below form, albeit facing a stiff task in this grade; mid-division, ridden before halfway, not quicken, edged right.

HAPPY ROMANCE (IRE) unproven on ground this soft, was below form; held up, effort over 2f out, chased leaders over 1f out, no extra.

A CASE OF YOU (IRE) ran poorly, in nothing like the same form as when scoring under similar conditions last time, though that form overall took a pasting in this contest; close up, took keen hold, shaken up over 2f out, weakened over 1f out.

JUMBY (IRE) was well held, up in grade, though little seemed to go right for him and it's probably best to put a line through this, his previous form having been working out really well; prominent, raced freely, lost place halfway, shaken up 2f out, short of room over 1f out, no extra.

MIGHTY GURKHA (IRE) was well held, essentially not good enough and dropping out when his race was run; pressed leader, ridden over 2f out, weakened over 1f out.

LIPIZZANER (USA) ran poorly, even worse than last time, in first-time blinkers; in touch, ridden halfway, not quicken, weakened over 1f out.

FIVETHOUSANDTOONE (IRE) ran no sort of race after 8 months off, this much the most testing ground he's faced; raced off the pace, labouring halfway; he holds a July Cup entry, looks to have done well since 2 yrs, but will have plenty to prove when next seen.
