Only half the field were ever involved in a Carlisle Bell run at a very sound pace, the time significantly quicker than the consolation race, and the form looks very solid among the principals, who came down the centre of the track in the straight.

CHICHESTER had been holding his form well in defeat since making a winning stable debut in April and eked out a bit more improvement in first-time cheekpieces, not necessarily reaching his limit just yet, either; in touch, travelled fluently, headway 2f out, challenged final 1f, edged ahead close home.

GLOBAL SPIRIT turned in his best effort of a hitherto rather spluttering season, this effort easily good enough to win something similar; chased leaders, effort when switched around 2f out, stayed on last ½f, took second near line.

LION TOWER (IRE) had looked like he might have plateaued at York but was sparked into a career best by the refitting of headgear, seemingly doing plenty through the early stages but still caught only very late on, his yard continuing an excellent first half of the season; close up, took strong hold, went on around 3f out, worn down close home.

ULSHAW BRIDGE (IRE) ran respectably after 4 months off but never looked like remedying a poor strike rate; slowly into stride, mid-division, pushed along soon after halfway, stayed on gradually but never landed a blow on principals.

GARDEN OASIS ran just respectably this time; led until around 3f out, one paced.

FRED dind't seem to enjoy being ridden a bit more patiently than usual and so probably isn't best judged on this; mid-field, took strong hold, pushed along halfway, merely plugged on.

BILLHILLY (GER) had a good position but proved to be a disappointment; chased leaders, ridden when carried head bit awkwardly under 3f out, not quicken 2f out.

STAR SHIELD after just 4 days off, was never remotely close enough to land a blow; awkward leaving stalls, in rear, off pace still 2f out, late headway.

HOWZER BLACK (IRE) back down in trip, wasn't in the same form as last time; mid-field, effort when carried head awkwardly from over 3f out, hung right 1f out, always around same position.

DEFENCE TREATY (IRE) ran poorly under a different ride to usual, though in fairness nothing from the second half of the field really got involved; soon steadied, struggling halfway, never involved.

HAYADH is best forgiven the run, a rare slow start meaning he was never in this; dwelt, raced well off the pace, labouring 3f out, never on .

HAJJAM is really struggling for form at present; soon steadied, effort over 2f out, made no impression though not unduly punished.

CHOOKIE DUNEDIN was back to not getting involved at all, in common with the others out the back; raced off the pace, left behind over 3f out.

WAARIF (IRE) back in headgear, seems not to retain his ability or enthusiasm on this showing; tracked pace, driven when hung right under 3f out, dropped away under 2f out, not look keen.

GALLIPOLI (IRE) back under less testing conditions, again ran poorly; not settle fully, always behind.
