who'd had a breathing operation/been gelded since last seen and also had a tongue strap back on, proved better than ever as he got his career back on track, taking his record on all-weather to 3 from 3 and doing well under the circumstances, quickening from out of the pack to catch a front runner that wasn't stopping; held up, good headway over 1f out, found plenty to lead post; this form will be good enough to go close in the Final on Good Friday, for which he's now qualified.

progressed again up in grade, really impressing with how he went through the race; made running, travelled powerfully, quickened clear over 1f out, closed down final 1f, caught post; he's well up to winning at this level and won't have any trouble dropping back to 7f either.

There were a few disappointments but this is surely form to view positively so far as the 2 3-y-os that came clear are concerned, the runner-up showing loads of zest to get everything on the stretch and the winner doing very well to come from behind and run him down.

SET PIECE who'd had a breathing operation/been gelded since last seen and also had a tongue strap back on, proved better than ever as he got his career back on track, taking his record on all-weather to 3 from 3 and doing well under the circumstances, quickening from out of the pack to catch a front runner that wasn't stopping; held up, good headway over 1f out, found plenty to lead post; this form will be good enough to go close in the Final on Good Friday, for which he's now qualified.
