a late-maturing sort, still rough around the edges even at this stage, added to his recent maiden win with more to spare than the winning margin would imply, more in his locker when the situation requires it; held up, travelled best, had to wait for gap early in straight, shaken up 2f out, stayed on to lead final 1f, well on top finish; will stay 1¾m and likely to make a bold bid in the Queen's Vase.

on very different ground than on debut - when Giuseppe Garibaldi was only third - wasn't seen to anything like best effect; tracked pace, pulled way to front after 4f, headed 3f out, weakened straight, not persevered with once held; well worth another chance.

An average renewal of this listed contest that was won readily by one on an upward curve, Giuseppe Garibaldi booking his ticket to Royal Ascot with a convincing success.
