A good renewal of this listed contest and it went the way of a progressive sort, who could be up to mixing it at a higher level in the sprinting division this season, Fort Del Oro making a winning return with a bit to spare.

FORT DEL ORO (IRE) who improved throughout last season, was strong in the betting and resumed progress after 7 months off with a cosy success, evidently a group-class sprinter in all but name and is sure to make her mark at that level this season; mid-field, travelled well, shaken up over 1f out, produced to lead final 100 yds, kept going well; may yet do better, she coped well with the drop to 5f, but 6f remains her optimum.

MONSIEUR JOE (IRE) shaped as if retaining all ability after 7 months off, losing no caste in defeat to a young and progressive sprinter; handy, shaken up 2f out, challenged well inside final 1f, kept on.

ABSTRACTION (IRE) fared much better than of late returned to more positive tactics, despite racing isolated from the rest of the bunch for much of the contest; led overall out wide, went with zest, shaken up under 2f out, headed final 100 yds, kept on; remains to be seen if able to back this up.

FLIGHT RISK (IRE) shaped as if still in good form, is versatile regards trip but did seem to find the drop back to the minimum inadequate; held up, shaken up halfway, kept on close home, never nearer; will be suited by a return to 6f+.

SHRILL was set a stiff task of first try against her elders and certainly wasn't disgraced after 8 months off; in touch, ridden approaching 2f out, one paced.

THE HAPPY PRINCE (IRE) is better judged on previous form, coping well enough with his first crack at 5f but not seeing things out as well as might have been expected; in touch, ridden over 2f out, no extra well inside final 1f; will benefit from return to 6f+.

MAAREK is better judged on previous form, things not panning out ideally for him back at 5f, but doing enough to suggests he's in good form; in rear, ridden halfway, merely closed up late, unsuited by the way the race developed.

MOVIESTA (USA) was considerately handled on his return to action after 8 months off, probably ridden with an eye on bigger prizes in the coming weeks and months; in rear, never landed a blow but not given a hard time; form was pachy last season but he's smart on his day.

INDEPENDENCE DAY (IRE) having first start against elders, had his work cut out on form but ultimately shaped as if needing run after 8 months off; in touch, weakened approaching final 1f.

MADAME THUNDER (IRE) back on turf and down in trip/in first-time hood and tongue strap (replacing blinkers), has consistently been highly tried but isn't good enough; in rear, off the bridle before most, left behind halfway.
