after 7 weeks off, turned in his best effort of the season to follow up last year's win in this particular contest, a race he also won back in 2011; waited with, headway from 2f out, led last ½f, edged right, kept going well; is clearly still capable of smart form on his day, though it is seemingly this type of event that is required for him to show it, the more competitive scenario of handicaps/pattern company appearing beyond him at this stage of his career.

wasted no time getting back to form, finding this 6-runner affair much more to his liking having finished down the field in the Portland 3 days earlier; close up, led 2f out, headed last ½f, one paced; may not prove that easy to place in the short term, looking too high in the weights with a return to handicaps in mind.

A minor event that is unlikely to prove strong form, the majority a shadow of their former self, the pair with the fewest questions to answer coming to the fore, Royal Rock winning this race for the third time.

ROYAL ROCK after 7 weeks off, turned in his best effort of the season to follow up last year's win in this particular contest, a race he also won back in 2011; waited with, headway from 2f out, led last ½f, edged right, kept going well; is clearly still capable of smart form on his day, though it is seemingly this type of event that is required for him to show it, the more competitive scenario of handicaps/pattern company appearing beyond him at this stage of his career.

CLEAR SPRING (IRE) wasted no time getting back to form, finding this 6-runner affair much more to his liking having finished down the field in the Portland 3 days earlier; close up, led 2f out, headed last ½f, one paced; may not prove that easy to place in the short term, looking too high in the weights with a return to handicaps in mind.

KRYPTON FACTOR back down to a more suitable trip and refitted with headgear, fared little better and has deteriorated markedly in the past 18 months; disputed lead until 2f out, one paced.

VALBCHEK (IRE) stepped up on the form of his stable debut, but this remains well adrift of what he was showing last season; in touch, ridden 2f out, one paced.

REX IMPERATOR continues out of sorts, a change of tactics failing to spark a revival; soon disputing lead, headed 2f out, faded final 1f; plenty to prove at present.

KHUBALA (IRE) went backwards from his reappearance and, having ended the previous campaign out of form, is best treated with a degree of caution for the time being; in touch, folded over 1f out.
