Warwick did at one time host both Flat and jumps racing, but now hosts only the latter. The Classic Chase, run over three miles and five furlongs in January, is the feature handicap of the year at the track, and was won by subsequent Grand National winner One For Arthur in 2017. The Leamington Novices’ Hurdle takes place on the same day; in 2016, Willoughby Court won the Leamington en route to winning the Neptune at the Festival in March. The Kingmaker Novices’ Chase, run over two miles in February, has produced some top-notch horses in recent years, given it was won by Gold Cup winner Long Run in 2010 and Champion Chase winner Finian’s Rainbow in 2011. Flying Angel won the 2016 renewal and went on to score at Grade 1 level at Aintree.

WARWICK RACECOURSE MAP 2p4k58
Left handed, and flat with the exception of a fairly steep climb soon after the winning line which descends in gradual fashion to the turn into the back straight. Essentially a sharp track by virtue of the tight bends, notwithstanding a long back straight. Widely regarded as a tricky jumping track on of five fences coming in quick succession in the back straight, but the casualty rate is one of the lowest in Britain. The tight nature of the course results in front runners/those ridden prominently tending to do well on both courses.
